On Thursday, November 4, 2021, 100+ Women Who Care of Will County donated $4,000 to Navarro Farm in Frankfort. The farm serves children and young adults with special needs.

A 5-acre family farm in Frankfort that serves people with special needs just received some financial support from a Will County organization.

On Nov. 4, 100+ Women Who Care of Will County donated $4,000 to Navarro Farm. Kathy DeSalvo and Joanne Tomczcuk, members of 100+ Women Who Care, presented the check to Sherri Navarro, the farm’s co-founder.

The Navarro family’s 5-acre farm created “a place for individuals with special needs to participate in an agricultural experience – with the hopes of increasing their social skills and independence,” according to a news release from 100+ Women Who Care of Will County.

The donation will be used towards the building of a greenhouse, the release said.

“The greenhouse will provide much needed space for the winter months for our participants to begin growing our vegetables for spring,” Navarro said in the release. “It will also provide space for us to continue doing programs and social events for our individuals with special needs.”

Members of 100+ Women Who Care of Will County were happy to help.

“It was very inspiring to see the growth of Navarro Farm in just one year,” DeSalvo said in the release. “They have already provided so many activities for those with disabilities, giving them a chance to interact and socialize, while learning all about farming.”
