Troy school district collaborates with mental health navigator

District 202 in Plainfield, Valley ViewSD 365 U began offering mental health resources earlier this year

Troy Community School District 30-C is now collaborating with a mental health coordinator to help staff, students and families find mental health and substance abuse services, according to a news release from the district.

Care Solace will help people and families navigate the mental health care system and even contact providers. Care Solace helps whether people or families have private insurance, no insurance or Medicaid. Care Solace will provide services in any language and the service is free for participants, the release also said.

Marc Solodky, Troy coordinator of student and family services, said in the release that Care Solace “helps break downthe barriers that prevent care from being identified and established.”

“As we continue to progress through the pandemic,” Solodky said in the release, “we recognize now more than ever the importance of maintaining our mental health.”

Earlier this year, Valley View Community Unit School District 365U also partnered with Care Solace to help provide referrals for mental health care for the VVSD community. VVSD families can connect with Care Solace at caresolace.com/site/vvsd.

Also earlier this year, Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 began offering the ReferralGPS online system to help District 202 families find local treatment and resources for mental health and substance abuse and appointments, It can also help with triage.
