Joliet Noon Lions Candy Day was a success

Supporters donated more than money, people in need will benefit

The Joliet Noon Lions had a successful Candy Day in October, thanks to support from its members, community supporters and businesses.

Some of the supporters underwrote expenses and some businesses sponsored road signs, according to a news release from the Joliet Noon Lions.

The Joliet Noon Lions collected sufficient funds to donate $2,000 to the Lions of Illinois Foundation, according to the release. This foundation sponsors sight and hearing screening vans, Camp Lions, low vision clinics, mobile retinal screening and a reconditioned hearing aid bank, according to the release.

Additionally, the Joliet club also donated 3,100 pairs of used eyeglasses to the foundation. The Joliet Noon Lions collected these eyeglasses the donation boxes in more than 30 locations, according to the release. The Lions also delivered 18 used hearing aids and nearly two pounds of pop tabs, according to the release.
