New principal named for Timber Ridge M.S. in Plainfield for upcoming school year

Catie Peterson will serve as principal at Timber Ridge Middle School in Plainfield for the 2022-23 school year, according to a news release from Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202.

Peterson has been assistant principal at Ira Jones Middle School in Plainfield since 2019. District 202′s board approved Peterson’s appointment at its regular meeting on March 21. She’s worked at District 202 for 17 years, according to the release.

She will replace Dean Kariotakis, who is retiring in June. Kariotakis led Timber Ridge for 11 years, according to the release.

Peterson started her education career in 2001 as a special education teacher at Still Middle School in Aurora, according to the release.

From 2004 to 2005, Peterson taught social studies to eighth graders and drama to sixth graders at Thompson Middle School in St. Charles. Then from 2005 to 2016, she taught English and social studies to eighth graders at Ira Jones, according to the release.

From 2014 to 2015, Peterson also served as interim assistant principal for student services at Heritage Grove Middle School. Then from 2016 to 2019, Peterson served as assistant principal for student services at Drauden Point Middle School, according to the release.
