Aurora woman killed in fiery wreck at Glenwood and Springfield avenues in Joliet

An Aurora woman stopped at a red light was rear-ended and killed in a fiery wreck Tuesday night, police said.

Ednalice Pagan-Romney, a 50, was stopped on Glenwood Avenue at Springfield Avenue in Joliet shortly after 8:15 p.m. when a westbound crossover SUV crashed into the back of the car, according to a statement released by the Joliet Police Department.

A 46-year--old Joliet woman was driving the SUV and was speeding, police said.

Pagan-Romney’s sedan was pushed into a tree and burst into flames, police said.

The woman who was driving the SUV was taken to AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center, police said, and from there was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Ednalice Pagan-Romney’s office is on Hammes Avenue, two blocks from the scene of the crash. No one answered the phone or responded to a message left at her practice, Inspire Therapeutic Services.

There was also no response to a message left at an Aurora number in Pagan-Romney’s name.
