A man with “serious injuries” was found in a Plainfield Road parking lot Monday afternoon, police said.
The manner in which the man suffered his injuries remains a mystery, according to police.
“Information gathered at the scene indicates that the victim may have been struck by a vehicle, however, this remains under investigation,” Joliet police Sgt. Dwayne English said in an email.
The injured man was discovered shortly before 3:30 p.m. and he was transported to AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. police said.
He was in the parking lot of Las Palmas Supermercado on Plainfield Road between Dawes and Clara avenues.
Police had the parking lot roped off with yellow tape and officers and detectives were still working the scene of the discovery more than two hours later.
Just 11 days and less than a mile away, a Joliet man was struck by a car and killed in the parking lot of the CVS near Six Corners.
The Will County Coroner’s office identified the dead man as 39-year-old Alec Langellier.
Langellier was hit by a car driven by a 77-year-old man who entered the parking lot from Plainfield Road about 4:30 a.m. March 10, according to a statement released Thursday morning by the Joliet Police Department.
No one was charged in connection with the fatal accident.
