Coroner: Body recovered from Des Plaines River is man reported missing

A man found Tuesday in the Des Plaines River in Joliet has been identified as a man reported missing on Aug. 17.

Kevontay A. Williams, 28, of Joliet, who was pronounced dead on Tuesday around 9 a.m. in the 500 block of Railroad Street, according to Will County Coroner Laurie Summers. His body was recovered from the Des Plaines River. The Joliet Police Department is investigating the incident. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday. The final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date pending the outcome of the autopsy, and toxicological reports.

Officers were called to a report of a body discovered along the west bank of the Des Plaines River. Further investigation revealed was discovered in the river by an Ozinga Concrete employee. Members of the Joliet Fire Department retrieved the body from the river. A representative of the Will County Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead.
