A 65-year-old woman died following a two-vehicle crash in Manhattan.
At 8 a.m. Thursday, Will County sheriff’s deputies with the responded to a crash involving a semi-truck on Wilmington-Peotone Road and Cedar Road in Manhattan, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office
A 65-year-old woman who showed no signs of life was extricated from her 2017 Ford Hatchback vehicle, police said.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured and he refused medical treatment.
Initial reports from the crash investigation indicate that the woman’s 2017 Ford Hatchback was traveling south on Cedar Road and failed to stop and yield to oncoming traffic on Wilmington-Peotone Road, police said.
As the Ford Hatchback entered the intersection, it was struck on the driver’s side by the semi-truck, which was traveling in the westbound direction, police said. The semi-truck attempted to avoid the Ford Hatchback but was unsuccessful.
The Will County Coroner’s Office has yet to identify the woman who died Thursday.
