Morris Hospital CEO elected to Illinois hospital board

Thomas J. Dohm, president and CEO of Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers in Morris, has been elected to the Board of Trustees for the Illinois Health and Hospital Association.

The IHA Board is the policymaking body for the Association, which represents more than 200 hospitals and nearly 40 health systems across Illinois.

Dohm’s three-year term began Jan. 1. The first IHA board meeting of the year was Jan. 24.

“We are pleased to welcome Tom to the IHA Board,” IHA President and CEO A.J. Wilhelmi said in the release announcing the election.

“Tom has decades of experience in the healthcare industry and a vision that will help us to advance important healthcare policy in Illinois,” Wilhelmi said.

Dohm served as Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers’ vice president of professional services, where he provided leadership and oversight for numerous ancillary and patient service departments, according to the release.

Since December 2015, Dohm has introduced LEAN management and performance improvement and executed a $64 million master facility plan that resulted in expanded clinical space and improved efficiencies at the hospital along with a new emergency department, women’s imaging center, infusion therapy center, perioperative facilities, and 13,000-square-foot health care center in Diamond, according to the release.

He has also been instrumental in the partnership between Morris Hospital and the YMCA that culminated with the opening of the new Morris Hospital YMCA in December, according to the release.

Before coming to Morris Hospital, Dohm was vice president of Support Services at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago from 2014-15.

His more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience also includes serving as chief operating officer at Provident Hospital of Cook County from 2011-2014, as well as numerous leadership roles with Oak Forest Hospital for two decades, according to the release.

Dohm and his wife, Jill, have three adult children and are active members of the Morris community, where they reside.
