Jury selection is expected to take place on Monday for the hate crime murder trial of a former Plainfield Township landlord after a judge allowed the admission of his statements to a sheriff’s deputy.

A 44-year-old Morris man is being charged with three counts of first degree murder in the death of his mother in August 2024.

The Joliet Fire Department responded at 4:52 p.m. Monday to the 1600 block of Sandy Drive and found a mobile home on fire.
