Police: Rockdale resident killed in single motorcycle crash in Joliet

A motorcyclist died following an early morning crash on Friday, Joliet police said.

Officers responded to the area of South Chicago Street and Interstate 80 around 3:32 a.m. for a single vehicle crash with injuries, according to a Joliet Police Department press release.

Joliet police said a preliminary investigation indicated a 51-year-old Rockdale man driving the motorcycle was northbound on South Chicago Street near I-80 when he struck a guardrail and was ejected.

The Will County Coroner’s office pronounced the driver dead at the scene, according to the release. The coroner’s office had not yet released the man’s identity by mid-morning on Friday.
