Shooting threat at Joliet West High School

A threat of a shooting at Joliet West High School led to a stepped up police presence Tuesday afternoon.

“This morning we were notified of a social media threat referencing a shooting directed at Joliet West High School,” the district said in a statement released Tuesday morning.

“The police are investigating, and we are searching students upon entry to school,” the statement said. “There is an additional police presence at Joliet West High School this morning.”

Joliet police Sgt. Dwayne English said the increased police presence found nothing untoward during morning arrival.
