Shorewood Home & Auto recently celebrated its 50th year of business in Shorewood.

“What started primarily as a Coast to Coast hardware store handling NAPA auto parts has grown into a one-stop shop for power equipment from the likes of Exmark, John Deere, Polaris, Toro, and more,” according to an article on the village of Shorewood website.

Owner Marc Moyer opened his first shop in Shorewood Plaza in October 1974. In the late 1990s, Shorewood Home & Auto moved to its current location at 1002 W Jefferson St. in the late 1990s, according to the article.

Following the move and incorporation of more power equipment, Kaj Moyer and Kale Martin – Moyer’s son and nephew respectively – helped establish Shorewood Home & Auto as the “One Stop Shop For Work & Play” by offering a wide range of commercial and residential power equipment, according to the article.

Shorewood Home & Auto now has 17 mechanics with the “expertise and bandwidth to meet the needs of customers ranging from government entities and large-scale landscapers to homeowners and powersports enthusiasts,” according to the article.

Approximately 50 employees among its three locations (Shorewood, Homer Glen and Crete) to handle sales, service, parts, and accounting, according to the article All three locations have the Shorewood Home & Auto for consistency, according to article.
