One of three men charged with burglarizing several residences in Plainfield has been transferred to the Will County jail.
On Thursday, Christian Zuniga, 27, of Villa Park was taken from prison to the county jail to face criminal charges in Will County.
Zuniga, Ramon Avendano, 28, and Shawn Gomez, 27, were each charged with residential burglary and burglary on March 26, court records show.
A criminal complaint against the three men alleged they entered three Plainfield homes on Dec. 26, 2019, with the intent to commit theft.
The homes were in the 25300 block of West Blakely Drive, the 12900 block of Shelly Lane and the 26300 block of West 131st Street, according to the criminal complaint.
Judge Chrystel Gavlin signed warrants for the arrests of the three men on March 26. The warrants each carried a $100,000 bond.
Avendano has already been in the Will County jail since April 28.
Gomez has been locked up in the DuPage County jail on other residential burglary charges. Since Aug. 21, Gomez has been taken to the courthouse to make court appearances in his Will County case.
Zuniga first appeared in Will County for his residential burglary case on Oct. 27. He was supposed to appear on Aug. 21, however another prisoner, who’s also named Christian Zuniga, was mistakenly taken to court on that date, court records show.
Zuniga’s bond was set at $190,0000 and he will need to post $19,000 for his release. Avendano remains in jail on a $100,000 bond and will need to post $10,000.
Zuniga has a pretrial hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
