Two were arrested in Joliet after officers found a rifle, six loaded 9 mm handguns, a .45-caliber handgun and another firearm in their house, police said.
About 8:30 p.m. Thursday, officers with the Joliet Police Special Operations Squad, Narcotics Unit, Tactical Unit and Patrol Division served a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Union Street, Joliet police said in a news release.
Officers searched the residence and recovered the weapons, police said.
“Numerous rounds of ammunition of various calibers were recovered as well,” police said.
Adrian Bailey, 19, and a 17-year-old male were taken into custody on probable cause of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and having no firearm owner’s identification card.
Bailey was taken to the Will County jail after his arrest.
Bailey was last jailed on March 28 after an incident involving a car chase, police said.
Officers investigated the sound of gunshots in Joliet’s East Side on March 27 and saw a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed, police said.
A chase ensued and officers eventually apprehended Bailey, who was identified as the driver of the vehicle, police said.
Officers determined that John Hernandez, 19, “had fired a gun at Bailey’s vehicle,” police said in a news release.
