Joliet police are investigating a shooting that occurred about several blocks away from AMITA Saint Jospeh Medical Center.
Officers found no one who was injured in the shooting that was reported on Thursday afternoon, according to a Joliet police news release.
“After an extensive search, officers were unable to locate any shooting victims,” police said.
About 12:11 p.m., officers responded to Douglas Street and Springfield Avenue for a report of shots fired, police said.
“Upon arrival, officers determined that occupants of a maroon sedan vehicle had fired gunshots at another occupied vehicle near the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Douglas Street,” police said.
Five police squad vehicles were parked behind Glenwood Apartments near the intersection of Glenwood and Springfield avenues.
Officers were seen talking to a man and inspecting the trunk of a black vehicle that was in a parking lot behind the apartments. The officers declined to answer questions about what happened.
One woman who was sitting a car in that parking lot said she didn’t know what happened.
