A Matteson man has been charged with the predatory criminal sexual assault of a child in Steger.
On Tuesday, prosecutors with the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office filed the charges against Joseph Stozek, 38, of the 100 block of Hibiscus Circle, court records show.
The criminal complaint filed against Stozek accuses him of committing sexual acts against a female minor starting in July 2020. He was also charged with committing sexual acts against the same minor in 2018 and 2019.
Stozek has been in jail since Monday evening.
Judge Brian Barrett said he found probable cause to continue Stozek’s detention at the Will County jail and set his bond at $2.5 million, according to court records. Barrett ordered Stozek to have no contact with the minor or anyone younger than 18 as a condition of his bond.
Stozek was ordered to have no access to the internet, online data or electronic data of any kind during his criminal proceedings, and he also must not consume any alcohol or illicit drugs, including marijuana, and must submit to drug testing on all future court dates.
In the event that Stozek is released from jail, he must stay confined to his home with GPS monitoring in accordance with Barrett’s order.
Stozek is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 17 for a preliminary hearing to determine whether he committed the offenses he is charged with.
