Pedestrian killed after she was struck by vehicle in Crest Hill

A 36-year-old woman was killed after she was struck by a vehicle that went into The A’s Club building in Crest Hill.

Jamie L. Walsh, of Joliet, was pronounced deceased at AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.

About 1 p.m., an emergency crew with Lockport Township Fire Protection District responded to report of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian and went into a building, Lockport Fire Chief Frank Blaskey said.

The crew arrived and took two people to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Blaskey said.

One was a woman who had been standing outside The A’s Club at 1801 Knapp St. The woman was struck by a vehicle, Blaskey said. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, he said.

The other was the 90-year-old male driver of the vehicle who was hospitalized for injuries considered not life threatening, according to Blaskey and Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark.

Clark said the cause of the crash is still under investigation and his department is receiving assistance from the Will County Sheriff’s Office. He said the sheriff’s office is performing the traffic reconstruction of the incident.
