Eight students from Plainfield Community Consolidated District 202 recently earned the State of Illinois Seal of Biliteracy “for demonstrating a high level of proficiency in English and in reading, writing, listening and speaking in another language,” according to a news release from District. 202.
To earn the State of Illinois Seal of Biliteracy, these students had to pass a foreign language Advanced Placement exam with a score of three or higher, the release said.
In addition, 23 District 202 graduating seniors received college scholarships in May from the Plainfield Foundation for Excellence and the C.A.P.E. organization.
The Foundation for Excellence, a private fundraising organization that has supported District 202 schools, students, staff, and the community since 1983 with grants, scholarships, and financial support for special programming, also awards a community service prize, according to a news release from District 202.
C.A.P.E. stands for the committee for the Coordination of Administration and Parents Groups for Educational Efficiency, and it represents all District 202 parent and booster organizations.
