MorningStar Mission in Joliet receives 400 pairs of socks from 4th graders

Here’s how you can help the mission’s clients during the holidays, too.

Four grade students at Taft Elementary School in Joliet coordinated a school-wide sock collection drive for MorningStar Mission. Nearly 400 pairs of new socks were collected. Taft fourth graders Lily Richter and Anthony Solache help package up the donated socks.

Fourth grade students at Taft Elementary School in Joliet coordinated a sock drive that netted four hundred pairs of socks, according to a news release from Joliet Public Schools District 86.

The teacher is Anne Flaherty.

The students also decorated individual bags to hold the socks. Each bag received three pairs of socks. The socks then were delivered to MorningStar Mission in Joliet.

MorningStar Mission is “a non-denominational organization dedicated to relieving the spiritual and physical hunger of the poor by providing food for the hungry, clothes for the needy, shelter for the homeless and the gospel of Jesus Christ for all,” according to its website.
