7 students at D-202 in Plainfield heading to Will County spelling bee

These students won their individual schools’ spelling bees

Drauden Point Middle School seventh grader Benjamin Adjei Jr. (second from right) took first place in his school's spelling bee and will compete in the 2022 Will County Regional Spelling Bee virtually in March. Seven middle school students at District Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 won the spelling bees at their individual schools.

Now they will compete in the 2022 Will County Regional Spelling Bee, which will be held virtually on March 22. Regional winners across Illinois will then advance to the national spelling bee in June.

The 2022 District 202 middle school Spelling Bee champs are: Nathan Lynch (eighth grade, Aux Sable), Benjamin Adjei Jr. (seventh grade, Drauden Point), Madeleine Yui (seventh grade, Heritage Grove), Warren Monday (sixth grade, Indian Trail), Sean Jansen (eighth grade, Ira Jones), Tristan Patel (eighth grade, John F. Kennedy) and Anthony Gerges (sixth grade, Timber Ridge)
