Raising Cane’s plans a 4,000-square-foot restaurant with two drive-thru windows, according to plans submitted to the city of Joliet.
The restaurant, which will replace the closed Diamand’s family restaurant at 3000 Plainfield Road, also would have two driveways.
The Joliet City Council votes Tuesday on a drive-thru permit sought by Raising Cane’s, a fast-food chicken chain that plans to demolish the Diamand’s builing, build its restaurant, and open later this year.
News of Raising Cane’s plans came out last week and follow the opening of Chick-fil-A, another fast-food chicken chain that opened in January nearby along Route 30, which is designated Plainfield Road as it runs through the West Side of Joliet.
Chick-fil-A does not have a Route 30 entrance and neither will Raising Cane’s, according to the plans.
The two entrances to Raising Cane’s will be on Tonti Drive and Colorado Avenue, two of the roads that provide access to stores and restaurants outside of the Louis Joliet Mall.
The two drive-thru windows will serve two purposes, one for payment and one for pick-up.
The council’s Public Service Committee will review the drive-thru plan before the council vote. The city Public Works Department has recommended approval of the drive-thru permit.
