No injuries in fire at commercial building in Plainfield

Plainfield Fire Protection District dispatched to 2-alarm fire Sunday night

No one was injured in a two-alarm fire Sunday that broke out in a multitenant commercial building in unincorporated Plainfield on Sunday night.

The Plainfield Fire Protection District was dispatched to 12000 block of Aero Drive at 9:18 p.m. due to smoke in the area of the building.

The firefighters saw smoke coming out of the unit, forced their way inside and found the fire. They initially fought the fire from the inside until they noticed the roof was going to collapse.

Route 59 and 119th Street were blocked off during the fire due to the fire hoses across the roadway and to allow water to be shuttled since the area has no fire hydrants.

The building is uninhabitable. The fire is under investigation.

The following departments helped by fighting the fire and responding to other calls: Aurora Township, Bolingbrook, Bristol-Kendall, Channahon, Darien-Woodridge, East Joliet, Elwood, Lemont, Lisbon Seward, Little Rock Fox, Lockport, Minooka, Montgomery, Morris, Naperville, New Lenox, Oswego, Rockdale, Romeoville, Troy, Wilmington and York Center.
