On Saturday, the Plainfield Park District started requiring anyone visiting its facilities to wear a face mask while indoors, according to a news release from the park district.

This guideline includes even those who are fully vaccinated, according to the release.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID-19 data tracker on Sunday showed that Will and Kendall counties have “substantial” transmission levels, meaning that there were between 50 and 99 cases per 100,000 people over the past seven days.

“In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, and to prevent moving into higher risk zones and tighter restrictions, the Plainfield Park District will follow both the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and CDC guidelines requiring individuals to wear a mask while indoors,” the release said.

The news release also asked patrons using the outdoor facilities to practice physical distancing.
