IDOT recognizes Joliet Regional Airport

A total of 12 Illinois airports received Airport of the Year awards

The Joliet Park District has increased fuel prices at Joliet Regional Airport, where rental rates for hangar space increase Wednesday.

The Illinois Department of Transportation recognized 12 airports during the Illinois Public Airports Association Fall Conference on Sept. 27 in Galena.

The airports received Airport of the Year awards for “an outstanding partnership with IDOT and a strong commitment to customer safety and satisfaction” along with “cooperation and coordination with the state, safety record, maintenance of the facility and promotion of aviation and educational events,” according to a news release from IDOT.

Because last year’s conference was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, IDOT based the awards on the last years of achievements.

Joliet Regional Airport was named the General Aviation Airport of the Year for 2020.
