Don’t throw those gently used toys away

If the children in your life have tired of some of their gently used toys, the Grundy County Land Use Department wants them.

The department’s annual Gently Used Toys, Books, Games and DVD video collection begins Nov. 19 and runs through Dec. 10 in order to “give the gift of fun” to other children, according to a release from the department.

All toys are welcome, unless they are recalled or badly damaged. Even plush tosys are welcome.

“They [plush toys] will all be sanitized by Park Pointe Healthcare center in Morris who generously assists us with this event,” according to the release.

Rotary International and local charitable organizations will distribute the toys in time for the holidays. The department typically collects more than 100 boxes of toys during the holiday seasons and “the children are most appreciative of them,” according to the release.
