Joliet closes lanes on West Jefferson St. beginning Thursday

The east bound lanes of West Jefferson Street in Joliet between North Des Plaines and North Joliet streets will be closed for repairs.

The closure will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday and lanes are expected to be reopened by 9 a.m. on Monday, according to a news release from the city.

These east bound lanes were damaged during a recent water main break. The closure of these two lanes will begin at Bluff Street and continue over the bridge through North Joliet Street, according to the city.

Access to the parking lot on the westside of Joliet City Hall, 150 W. Jefferson St., will be closed on North Des Plaines Street and visitors will need to access the parking lot from West Washington Street, according to the release.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes for the duration of the work.
