Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox received and “A” grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group for the 12th year in a row.
The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. The Safety Grade assigns an “A,” “B,”, “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to all general hospitals across the country and is updated every six months. It is based on a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.
Leapfrog uses up to 27 measures of public available hospital safety to assign the grades. The hospital;s complete grade is available at hospitalsafetyguide.org.
The hospital is also seeing decreasing numbers in positive COVID cases. As of Tuesday, it had 57 hospitalized.

Colby also complimented the hospital workers’ dedication and focus on safety during the pandemic, and hopes that with the arrival of the vaccine that it will allow for a brighter 2021.
