Three things your esthetician wants you to know

Are you considering whether to make an appointment for a skincare treatment? Here are three things Kathe Malinowski, lead esthetician and marketing manager for Eterna MedSpa & Laser Vein Center, wants you to know:

1. Make that appointment

“Don’t wait to see an esthetician until you are already seeing lines and wrinkles,” Malinowski said. “It is easier to prevent than to get rid of wrinkles.”

Additionally, an experienced skincare professional can develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

2. Pass on cheap skincare products

Don’t go to local drugstores or department stores to get your cleansers, moisturizers, serums and more.

“See a professional who can analyze your skin and prescribe exactly what you’re lacking in your skincare,” Malinowski said.

3. Make sure to have the essentials

The three most important skincare products to include in your daily regimen are Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and sunscreen.

“Vitamin C helps to protect your screen from free radical breakdown and can help with hyperpigmentation,” Malinowski said. “Hyaluronic acid gives you the hydration you need to keep your skin hydrated.”

As for the SPF, Malinowski said it should top your list of skincare essentials.

“It is the most important product you need to be using daily,” she said. “This isn’t just a day at the beach thing. Use the SPF last in your skincare regimen and apply it often if you are out in the direct sun.”
