Silver Cross Hospital - Joliet Woman’s Knee Pain is Gone After Concierge Service From Silver Cross

Florence Bayci was impressed with the care Dr. Timothy Keating gave her Mom at Silver Cross Hospital .

“When my mother was 97, she broke her tibia,” said Bayci, 70, of Joliet. “I saw the care Dr. Keating gave her. One night around 11 p.m., I thought of a question, so I sent him an email. He emailed back that night!”

“We define concierge care as access to me and my staff around the clock via text, call or email,” said Dr. Keating. “We put our patients at ease.”

Bayci knew she needed to have her knee looked at. “I got shots for pain relief up to six months,” she explained. “But by the last couple, they didn’t work.”

Dr. Keating told her she would need only a partial replacement. “The arthritis was only on one side,” she said.

Dr. Keating does everything he can to minimize the pain right after surgery. “I use a minimally invasive technique using special instruments I helped develop,” he said. “There’s no need to cut tendons or muscles.” Also, he uses anesthetics that minimize the need for opioids for pain relief.

Bayci had her partial knee replacement at Silver Cross and went home the same day, with physical therapy twice a week. According to Dr. Keating, that type of recovery is common with the techniques he uses in treating patients from 27 to 99 years old. “I’m lucky to have a wonderful team that includes a physician assistant, nurse, scheduler, medical assistant and trainer,” he said.

Bayci said her recovery has been nothing like it was six years ago from a total knee replacement. “I used a walker for maybe a week,” she said, “then a cane, just in case. I can’t say enough about Dr. Keating and his team.”
