Troy dance team qualifies for IDTA State Finals

The Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C dance team will advance to the Illinois Drill Team Association State Finals in February after qualifying in three of the four categories in which it competed during January’s regional competition at Clinton High School.

The state meet will take place Feb. 12 in Springfield.

The team’s hip hop routine took first place, its pom dance took second place, and its jazz routine tied for second place. All three categories were state qualifiers with those finishes. Troy’s lyrical routine took fourth place but did not qualify.

Coaches are Trisha Koerner and Christine Thoele, and the team’s choreographers are Jenna Hoffman (for hip hop, jazz and lyrical) and Cailey Koerner (for pom dance).

Troy dance team members are eighth graders Ava Laurendi, Lilly Lesnik, Haley Picco, Michayla Rhymes, Sydney Sleyko, Kathen Stonitsch and Olivia Thoele; seventh graders Natalee Blenck, Abbey Potter, Kayli Rieuf and Emily Sanchez; sixth graders Malorie Boyer, Lexi Crandall, Hailee Kulikowski, Yuliana Patino and Bella Wieher; and fifth grader Cassidy Koerner.
