1. Starry Night in Winter: From 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, there will be a winter painting event at Pinot’s Palette, located at 3823 E. Main St., in St. Charles. 2. Brunch With Santa: From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, there will be a brunch event featuring Santa at The Hive Tavern & Eatery, located at 204 W. Main St., in St. Charles. Doors will open at 10 a.m., and attendees should enter through the front door to be seated. Adult festivities include a breakfast entrée, the choice between a Bloody Mary, mimosa or a premium mocktail, a family photo with Santa and an ornament to decorate. Adult tickets are $25. Kid festivities include a breakfast entrée from the kids’ menu, a choice of a kids’ holiday beverage (or a regular kids’ drink), a family photo with Santa, an ornament to decorate and Christmas cookies. 3. Winter Wonderland Workshop: From 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, there will be a Winter Wonderland Workshop at the Up North Wine Tasting Room, located at 9 N. Second St., in Geneva. Attendees will learn to create a container filled with winter foliage with floral design instructor Janet Gallagher of Designs by Janet. All materials will be provided, as well as a glass of wine. 4. A Special Storytime with Lt. Johnston and Our Geneva Firefighters: From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, there will be a special storytime at the Geneva Public Library District’s Discovery Spot, located at 227 S. Seventh St. Lt. Johnson and Geneva firefighters will be on site to read stories, teach lessons about fire safety and answer questions. 5. Hike Into the New Year: From 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, there will be a New Year’s Eve hike at Johnson’s Mound Forest Preserve, located at 41W600 Hughes Road, in Elburn.
