Here are five things to do in Kendall County:
1. Oswego Holiday Express: From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, the Oswego Holiday Express event will take place at South Point, located at 810 Preston Lane, in Oswego. There will be a holiday shuttle that departs every 20 minutes during registered sessions. Attendees can wear pajamas to the event. There will be hot cocoa from the Village Grind and a chance to meet Santa. Mrs. Claus will welcome attendees. Registration is required and costs $25 for residents and $35 for nonresidents. Other sessions will be available between 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 14 and 15. Wheelchair-accessible shuttles will be available on Friday evenings. 2. Holiday Trivia Night featuring “Christmas Vacation”: At 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, there will be a Holiday Trivia Night featuring “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” at Pinz Entertainment Center, located at 1211 N. Bridge St., in Yorkville. There will be four rounds of questions, with four possible winners and an overall winner of the night. There will be prizes available. Attendees are welcome to dress as their favorite “Christmas Vacation” character to win costume prizes. 3. Fish Fry: From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, there will be a Fish Fry at the Oswego American Legion Post 675, located at 19 W. Washington St. There will be an all-you-can-eat fish fry buffet, with a variety of appetizers, sandwiches and more. The buffet is $16 for adults, $14 for seniors, $8.50 for kids under 10 and free for kids 3 and under. This is a cash-only event. Fish Fries take place every Friday. 4. Intro to Glass Blowing: From 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, there will be a Glass-Blown Ornaments workshop at Arts on Fire Studio, located at 217 E. South St., in Plano. This workshop will introduce the tactics of glass blowing through the creation of a unique ornament. It is for ages 18 and up. This is an instructor-led event, and all materials will be provided. Tickets are $59 without tax. There will be another Intro to Glass Blowing workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 21. 5. Read With Paws: From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, there will be an opportunity for children to read with a furry friend at Yorkville Public Library, located at 902 Game Farm Road. There will be 15-minute time slots available to register for. All dogs are certified therapy dogs. This program is designed for children to feel less nervous when reading.
