5 Things to Do: Dance for the winter solstice in Woodstock, view holiday lights in Fox River Grove and more

Here are five things to do this weekend:

Winter solstice dance: Get your groove on at the Winter Solstice Dance from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 at the Center for the Arts in Woodstock, located at 1690 S. Eastwood Drive. Enjoy live music and family-friendly games, participate in a white elephant gift exchange and take a flamenco dance lesson. Kids are encouraged to dress up and dance. A Chick-fil-A Christmas: Celebrate the magic of Christmas from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Crystal Lake Chick-fil-A location, located at 4812 Route 14. The restaurant will have cookie-decorating, a complimentary cocoa bar, a special performance by the Prairie Ridge Choir and an appearance of Chick-fil-A’s very own Santa Cow. Holiday lights at Mack Manor: Drive through Fox River Grove’s most festive light display at the Mack Manor, located at 1066 Algonquin Road. The home is decked out with holiday lights, displays and decorations. Cars can drive through and take in the sights while tuning into the radio at 106.9 FM to hear holiday music. Donations are accepted and go toward local charities and covering the costs of the display. Scheduled times this weekend are from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Times and dates vary depending on weather. Festivus: Air your grievances during McHenry’s Festivus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Shop 3430, Freundly Designs and Wild Hunny Boutique. The local businesses teamed up to create a fun day of last-minute holiday shopping with special discounts and beverages. Play reindeer games: Join in on some reindeer games from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Home State Bank in downtown Crystal Lake, located at 40 Grand St. Sip on hot cocoa and munch on holiday cookies while partaking in festive activities. Search the bank during the scavenger hunt, make your own reindeer food and create an ornament. The Kiwanis Club of Crystal Lake will be giving away children’s books for any child who completes the scavenger hunt.
