5 Things to Do: Pasta of Bologna Workshop, Squishmallow Paint Party and more in Kendall County

Here are five things to do in Kendall County:

1. Squishmallow Paint Party: From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, there will be a Squishmallow Paint Party in the Youth Program Room at the Oswego Public Library’s Montgomery Campus, located at 1111 Reading Drive. Attendees will create a painting of their stuffed animal, or of a stuffed animal they have always wanted. This program is for children in grades third through fifth. 2. Kids Pottery Wheel Workshop: From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, there will be a Kids Pottery Wheel Workshop at Arts on Fire Studio, located at 217 E. South St. in Plano. This event is designed to teach kids to make two pottery pieces using the pottery wheel. A bowl and cylinder will be created. Participants will be guided by an instructor, and they will learn the fundamentals of centering, pulling and shaping clay on the spinning wheel. This workshop is for all skill levels. This class is recommended for ages 8 and up. The workshop price is $44.98, and a $15 nonrefundable deposit must be paid at the time of registration. 3. Girl Pop Music BINGO/SINGO Night at Pinz: At 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, there will be a BINGO/SINGO night featuring popular girl pop music at Pinz Entertainment Center, located at 1211 N. Bridge St. in Yorkville. Music featured will include hits from Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey and more. Reservations are encouraged, and there is a $5 cost per person. Attendees can use code girlpopdiscount for $2 off. There will be plenty of prizes available. 4. Styrofoam Recycling: From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 4, Oswego Presbyterian Church will collect Styrofoam in its parking lot, located at 1976 Illinois Route 25 in Oswego. 5. Pasta of Bologna Workshop: From 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, there will be a pasta making workshop at Oak + Bean, located at 100 W. Washington St. in Oswego. Attendees will learn the art of Pasta Fatto a Mano, the traditional method of hand stretching pasta dough from the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy. Attendees will roll, mix and knead dough with a traditional Italian rolling pin. Personal instruction will be provided. The workshop will include a complimentary glass of wine, pasta tasting, a recipe card, an Italian rolling pin and fresh pasta to take home. Tickets are $50.
