5 Things to Do: Zodiac Constellation painting, subnivean zone exploration and more in Kane County

Here are five things to do in Kane County:

1. Zodiac Constellation: From 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, there will be a Zodiac Constellation painting event at Pinot’s Palette, located at 3823 E. Main St. in St. Charles. Whether attendees believe in zodiac signs, this is a fun painting to create and attendees will be able to customize it to fit their zodiac sign. This is a paint-and-sip experience, so attendees 21 and older will have the opportunity to buy wine. All experience levels are welcome and all supplies will be included. 2. Learn from the Experts: Creatures of the Subnivean Zone: From 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, there will be an animal exploration at the Creek Bend Nature Center, located at 37W700 Dean St. in St. Charles. Attendees will explore animal habitats between the subnivean zone, also known as the area between snow and the ground. If snow abounds, attendees will get to explore a Quinzhee shelter, which is a type of snow shelter. Registration for this event, which is required, is $10. 3. Exploring the Icy Worlds of the Solar System: From 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, there will be a presentation on the ice in the solar system in the Meeting Room of the Geneva Public Library, 227 S. Seventh St. Michelle Nichols-Yehling, director of public observing at the Adler Planetarium, will discuss ice on hot planets and cold comets, moons made of ice, flowing and floating glaciers and ice volcanoes. 4. Batavia Creamery Ice Cream for Breakfast: From 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, there will be specials at Batavia Creamery, located at 4 N.
