The Forbidden City Lounge, located in the lower level of Leilani Asian Fusion in downtown Aurora, will hold a grand opening celebration at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Leilani Asian Fusion opened at 2 N. River St. in downtown Aurora in August, and features Filipino and Pan-Asian flavors and traditions on the menu.
Forbidden City, the restaurant’s 1,200 square foot, 75-seat underground lounge conjures images from Southeast Asian nightclubs, and offers rum-inspired craft cocktails, beer and wine. The venue includes a dining room that seats 125 and seasonal outdoor seating for 50.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, which is held in partnership with the City of Aurora, coincides with the Lunar New Year, celebrating the Year of the Snake, according to Leilani Asian Fusion’s website.
That’s not the only special event happening at the restaurant. Sushi and Cocktail classes are being offered at 6 p.m. beginning Feb. 6 and every Thursday during February.
Guests will learn to roll two sushi dishes and mix a signature cocktail in this hands-on experience. Tickets are $50 per person and seats are limited.
