BEST PIE: Myrtle’s Pies, 927 N. Main St., Princeton

A charming small-town bakery and cafe, Myrtle’s Pies is know for friendly service and delicious homemade pies. Varieties include classic fruit pies like apple, cherry, rhubarb and blueberry lavender to decadent varieties like coconut cream, chocolate peanut butter pie, French Silk, German chocolate pie and many more unique flavors. Myrtle’s also offers baked goods like cookies, cinnamon rolls and more. Whole pies and slices are available daily. Call ahead for special orders.

ONE OF THE BEST: Spring Valley Bakery, 119 W. St. Paul St., Spring Valley

Spring Valley Bakery, which also won Best Bakery in the 2024 Best of the Illinois Valley, carries a variety of pies, including blueberry, apple, cherry, French Silk, Oreo, Turtle and more, including seasonal favorites.
