Here are five things to do this weekend:
- “Tarzan”: The musical by rock legend Phil Collins and Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang, based on the Disney film and Edgar Rice Burrough’s original tale, will be presented Friday through Feb. 9 at Stage 212, 700 First St., La Salle. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Shows were added at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8. Tickets cost $22 and can be bought by visiting the box office from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday or by calling 815-224-3025 during those hours. Tickets also can be bought online by visiting stage212.org.
- Carnegie Challenge Mini Golf FUN Raiser: The 18-hole miniature-golf event is set from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Streator Public Library, 130 S. Park St. The fundraiser will benefit the library’s initiatives, including children’s programs, new books and updates to the facility and technology. The fundraiser will kick off Friday night with an adults-only event, giving people an opportunity to socialize and get a first look at the items available for bidding. Tickets for this preview night are $20 and include snacks, beverages, early access to raffle items and a silent auction. On Saturday, the event will be open to all ages, with tickets priced at $5. This more family-friendly day will feature mini-golf, raffles, a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction. Tickets can be bought in advance at the library or at the door during the event.
- Not Petty: The Tom Petty cover band will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Court Street Pub, 620 Court St., Ottawa.
- Illinois Valley Record Show: Multiple new and used vinyl record and CD dealers will be set up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Pitstick Pavilion, 3401 Route 23, Ottawa. Admission is $2. Early-bird admission is $10 beginning at 9 a.m. Buy, sell, trade or appraise records at the event. Call Bill at 815-793-6380 or Brian at 847-452-9085.
- Trivia night: The Grand Ridge PTO will hold a trivia night fundraiser at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Oakley Avenue Klub (Knights of Columbus), 806 Oakley Ave., in Streator. Doors open at 6 p.m. Email grgs95pto@gmail.com to reserve a table. Teams can have up to 10 people, and the cost is $10 per player.
