A homeless man charged in a pair of La Salle knife incidents pleaded guilty Friday to felony charges and was sentenced to four years in prison.

A Streator man accused of running a drugs and theft ring will stand trial March 17 on multiple felonies. Keith Gullens will stay in jail while awaiting his jury.

Fifty families and 120 children received Christmas gifts through Peru's Red Christmas for Kids program on Friday, a local charity that provides personalized gifts to children in need. Several volunteers wrapped and prepared gifts in the weeks leading up to delivery day. Blue and Red has spent about $30,000 this year, and in addition to that, it has used many of the donated items (toys and clothing) from the community.
