Nancy Schmitt

STREATOR — Nancy Schmitt, 55, of Streator, passed away Saturday, April 21, at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Elias Funeral Home. At Nancy’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.

Born March 23, 1963, in Streator, she was the daughter of Donald and Rosemary (Chegorski) Schmitt.

She is survived by her siblings, Don (Dolores) Schmitt, of Lake Zurich, Linda (Dan) Dzurisin, of Vancouver, Wash., Dr. Sue Schmitt, of Streator, and Bill (Cheri) Schmitt, of Streator. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Jason (Sheina Sim) Dzurisin, Alison (Steve) Carroll, Eric (Bianca Colmenares) Schmitt, Dr. Abbie (Derek) Eiten and Chloe Schmitt.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Nancy attended Streator grade schools and graduated from Streator High School in 1981.

She worked for her family business, Don’s Furniture in Ottawa. She loved fishing, especially for walleye. She loved her cats and James Taylor.

“She had a unique outlook on life and a great sense of humor. Wherever she was, laughter was present.”
