Marie Myers

STREATOR — Marie Myers, of Streator, passed away at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator, with Monsignor Philip Halfacre officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator, with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Myers was born in Ottawa, the daughter of Fred and Camilla (Burke) Kammerer. She married C. Robert Myers on March 25, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Marie is survived by one daughter, Marianne Myers, and one son, Stephen (Christy) Myers; grandchildren, Saskia Walter, Monica (Bob) Baldacci, Emma Myers, Tessa (Casey) Cramer and Quinn Myers; great-grandchildren, Adelae and Soren Kewley, Sophia and Annika Sheridan, Gianna Baldacci and Cade Cramer; also surviving is a brother-in-law, John “Bud” (Dottie) Myers, Florida.

Marie attended St. Patrick’s Grade School in Ottawa, St. Xavier Academy, Ottawa High School and Northern Illinois University. She was a social worker for Bishop Scheill’s Catholic Youth Organization in Chicago and served on the editorial staff of the Ottawa Republican-Times.

She was founder of the Streator Chapter of Sweet Adelines.

Mrs. Myers was active in various community organizations, including Streator Matrons, Streator Woman’s Club, Mentis Study Club, Streator Library Board, Streator Literary Club, Elks Club and Streator Country Club. For 22 years, she served Streator United Way. She was a charter member of Streator Community Players theater board and theater reviewer for the Streator Daily Times Press from 1964 to 1992.

Marie Myers was a member of the former Immaculate Conception parish in Streator and currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel parish. She will be buried near her husband and parents at St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Streator United Way, St. Michael the Archangel parish, Engle Lane Theater or a donor’s choice.

Marie Myers is dearly loved by her family and will be missed.
