Double murder remains unsolved

After 14 years, no arrest has been made in the murders of Mary Comer and her son James Larrison in northern La Salle County.

On the afternoon of Friday, July 9, 2004, a relative found Comer, 61, shot to death inside her burning home off of North 42nd Road near Sheridan. Larrison, 40, of Sublette, was shot inside the house and suffered burns before making it outside the house where he was found. Larrison was pronounced dead shortly after at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich. Both were shot in the head.

La Salle County Sheriff Tom Templeton said the case remains an open investigation.
