Dennis Junker

WENONA — Dennis G. Junker, 68, of Wenona, died on Aug. 31, 2018 at his home.

Born in Streator on Sept. 26, 1949, to the late Gerhardt and Marguerite Loser Junker, he married Charlene Ballard in Varna in May 1975. She passed away June 8, 2003. He later married Shirley Walker on Dec. 3, 2003, in Lacon.

Dennis was a meat cutter for over 30 years, working at Eagles, Gerardo‘s, and retiring from Illinois Valley Foods. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Varna. Dennis served his country in the Air National Gaurd.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Barry, Stephen, and Nathan (KrystalKendall) Junker, all of Wenona; stepsons, Jason and David Dobson, of Wenona; stepdaughter, Sheila Humpage, of Oglesby; brother, Don (Kathy) Junker, of Varna; sisters, Mary (Steve) Olson and Suzanne (Bill) Bartlett, both of Houston, Texas; and grandchildren, Amiaha, Jaylen, Teegan, Lydia, Michelle, Michaela, and Sebastian.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Varna with a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, and one hour prior to services Wednesday. Peter Glock will be officiating and burial will be in Saint Paul Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Saint Paul’s Church and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
