David ‘Dave’ Mucci

1951-2018

NAPERVILLE — David (Dave) Mucci, 67, of Naperville, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, at Edward Hospital in Naperville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at St. Francis Church with the Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 3:45 p.m. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery.

Dave was born July 8, 1951, in Ottawa, to Eugene and Jane (Rossiter) Mucci. He married Patricia Halm on June 30, 1973, at St. Columba Church.

He received his bachelor's degree from ISU and his master's degree from NIU. He worked in sales for Stephens-Adamson in Aurora for 17 years. Following his sales career, he taught industrial technology at Hill Middle School, District 204, in Naperville/Aurora, from which he retired.

He coached soccer, wrestling and football. In his spare time, he had fun hunting, fishing, bartending, woodworking, playing his accordion for family and friends and singing. He also enjoyed sports and played soccer in college. In addition, he loved cheering for University of Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Dave loved being around people and telling stories.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patti; one son, Matt (Marinda) Mucci, of Troy, Ohio; his mother, Jane Mucci, of Ottawa; two sisters, Jean (Joe) Murry and Julie (Marty) Wheatland, both of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law, Vicki Mucci, of Ottawa. He is also survived by three nieces, Lauren, Courtney and Jenna; five nephews, Patrick, Dan, Casey, Shane and Chris; and two cats, Sanford and Delilah.

David was preceded in death by his father, Eugene; and his brother, Don Mucci.

Pallbearers at the burial service will be the following friends: Bert Gyllin, Ron Zoran, Michael Popp, Mark Truckenbrod, Corey Duzan and Paul Elliott.
