Kenneth P. Ruth

1935-2018

STREATOR — Kenneth P. Ruth, 83, of Streator and formerly of Joliet, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, at Ottawa Pavilion in Ottawa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Father Ryan Mattingly will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Manhattan, Ill. Pallbearers will be his brother, Bob Ruth; brother-in-law, Gary Henning; nephews, Frank Jurcak, Thomas Jurcak and Jason Henning; and a cousin, William Stalter.

Born Sept. 18, 1935, in Joliet, he was the son of Fred and Edna (Platt) Ruth. He married Lois Jurcak on Oct. 16, 1990. She survives in Streator.

He also is survived by a brother, Bob (Gloria) Ruth, of Joliet, and Herman Ruth, of Joliet; a sister-in-law, Sonja Jacklich-Ruth, of Florida; and several nieces and nephew also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Fred Jr., Richard and Lawrence Ruth; and stepsisters, Annabell Rawlings and Juanita Gooden.

Born and raised in Joliet he attended Joliet grade schools. He graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1953. He has lived in Streator since 1968.

He worked for Caterpiller Inc., retiring in 1988 after 35 years of service. Ken also worked at the Sirloin House in Lostant for 26 years.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
