BRAIDWOOD — Donald Watson Weir, 80, of Braidwood, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 4, at his home.
He was born June 28, 1938, in Chicago to the late Preston Reeves and Augusta (nee Watson) Weir.
Donald graduated from Northwestern College in Chicago. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of Christian Life Assembly in Diamond. Don was a public affairs manager at Caterpillar Tractor in Joliet, retiring in 1995.
Surviving are his wife, Donna M. (nee Perillo) Campbell-Weir, whom he married on May 15, 1998, in Joliet; brother, Charles (late Jean) Weir, of Maryland; stepsons, Scott (Darcy) Davis, of Mena, Ark., and Rick (Christine) Campbell, of Braidwood; stepdaughters, Andrea Hartong, of Joliet, and Sandra (Guy) Hicks, of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Matt, Tony, Jessica, Amanda, Andra, Beth, Eleya and Jeremy; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was one brother, Lawrence Weir; and a stepson, John Davis.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Christian Life Assembly in Diamond with visitation one hour preceding services. The Rev. Randy Adams will officiate. Committal service with military honors will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
