GRAND RIDGE — Anne Elizabeth Roper, 93, of Grand Ridge, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, at Pleasant View in Ottawa.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Grand Ridge Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to services. The Rev. Anne Ferguson, of Grand Ridge United Methodist Church, will officiate. Private burial will be in Grand Ridge Cemetery following services.
Anne was born Oct. 5, 1925, in Earlville, to Harry J. and Marjorie E. Henry. She married Harold W. Roper on Aug. 21, 1945, in Varna.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2018, by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Anne graduated from Ottawa High School and Ryburn-King Hospital School of Nursing. While in training, she was part of Cadet Nursing Corp at Ryburn-King. As part of her nursing curriculum, she interned at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Upon graduation, Anne returned to Ryburn-King Hospital in Ottawa to begin her career. She continued nursing for nearly 40 years in the OB department.
Anne lived in Grand Ridge most of her lifetime. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Grand Ridge.
She is survived by her son, Terry (Gaylene) Roper, and her daughter, Cindy (David) Boldt, both of Grand Ridge; four grandchildren, Brian (Gina) Roper, Michael (Keri) Roper, Jeremy (Julie) Boldt and Beth Roper; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, June Gaines.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grand Ridge United Methodist Church, Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department or the donor’s choice.
