STREATOR — Edward “Red” W. Hansen, 85, of Streator, passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 18, at Heritage Health in Minonk.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Dwight with military honors conducted by members of Dwight VFW.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Park, Scott Hansen, Chase Robinson, Mark Garrison, Josh Luckey and Jeff Bressner.
Red was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Odell, to Harry and Hazel (Ely) Hansen.
Surviving are children, Jayne (Thomas) Park, of Streator, Julie (Anthony) Robinson, of South Beloit, Christine (Todd) Galbate, of Fort Collins, Colo., Beth (Archie) Crouch, of Streator, and Eric Hansen, of Mesa, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Wright, of Mesa, Ariz., Marilyn (Elmer) Garrison, of Streator, Betty (John) Kochis, of Streator, and JoAnn (Jim) Armstrong, of Streator; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edward; daughter, Jamie; twin sons, in infancy; and a brother, Ralph Hansen.
Edward attended Dwight Grade School and served in the U.S. Air Force as a corporal. He was formerly employed at Thatcher Glass and a pipefitter at La Salle Nuclear Station and formerly owned and operated Kangley Inn in the 1970s.
Red was an avid fisherman and deer hunter, and he enjoyed gardening.
Memorials may be made in his name to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Streator Unlimited.
