John Melvin Earle

1939-2018

LELAND — John Melvin Earle, 79, of Leland, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

He was born July 22, 1939, in Sandwich, the son of Reuben A. and Leona M. (Kramer) Earle. John married Sandra S. Chancy on June 25, 1959, in Aurora. He was an avid member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. John and Sandy owned and operated The Dream Treat in Leland for more than 12 years. John enjoyed farming, his guitar, discussing politics and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of Leland; three sons, R. Wayne (Julie) Earle, of Whitewater, Wis., John (Becky) Earle, of Leland, and Derick Earle, of Logan, Utah; one daughter, Tarali (Michael) Schaumberger; 12 grandchildren, Brian (Nicole) Earle, Jennifer Earle, Matt (Laura) Earle, Adam Earle, Eric Earle, Amy Earle, Brianna (Brad) Loveridge, Haley Earle, Kaitlin Schaumberger, Allison Schaumberger, Tiaira (Mike) Workman, Darius Earle; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Juanita (Doug) Carlisle; two brothers, Keith (Maureen) Earle and Donald Earle; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cynthia Earle, and one sister, Phyllis Juracan.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Bishop Steven A. Froisland officiating. Burial will follow at Elerding Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home in Somonauk. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1337 Adams St. in Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ottawa.
